'Friends At The Cove'
Opening in Stone Creek Cove!
The SCC Board is pleased and excited to announce our restaurant has been leased to Val Lowe and Katie Tillman, the former owners of Friends in downtown Anderson. The new venture will be Friends at the Cove and the official opening date will be on/about February 1, 2008.

Friends operated very successfully in downtown Anderson for 15 years. Val and Katie sold the business in 2006 and placed their focus on full time off premise catering with a state of the art mobile kitchen. Katie and Val love the restaurant business. They incorporate the bounty of produce grown on their own farm into their menus.

For over a year Stone Creek Cove has looked for just the right lessee for the clubhouse. The Board interviewed many potential lessees but could not find the right match. In a conversation with a friend, one of the Board Members mentioned the plight of trying to find a lessee and the friend suggested calling the former owners of Friends in downtown Anderson. When the call was made, Val answered and initially she laughed. Opening another restaurant was not on their radar. However, they agreed to look at the property. On July 23, Val and Katie came to Stone Creek Cove to preview the facility. Where many other lessees could not see the potential, Val and Katie immediately liked the structure and itŐs layout and saw the potential for what the facility could be. After many more meetings and several discussions with the Board, the lease was signed on September 27.

Val and Katie will be bringing their mobile kitchen to the premises and will be doing catering as well as running the restaurant. The ballroom facility at the clubhouse provides a perfect venue for parties and events.

Stone Creek Cove welcomes Val and Katie to the Stone Creek Cove family and we invite everyone to come out and pay them a visit when they open on/about February 1, 2008.

Lake Hartwell
fishing, boating, camping ......
Hartwell Lake is one of the southeast's largest and most popular public recreation lakes. Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1955 and 1963 as part of a flood control, hydropower, and navigation project, authorized purposes now include recreation, water quality, water supply, and fish and wildlife management. Each year, millions of people utilize the many public parks, marinas, and campgrounds conveniently located around the lake to pursue a variety of outdoor recreational experiences -making Hartwell one of the most visited Corps lakes in the nation.

Hartwell Lake is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers. The lake is created by Hartwell Dam located on the Savannah River seven miles below the point at which the Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers join to form the Savannah. Extending 49 miles up the Tugaloo and 45 miles up the Seneca at normal pool elevation, Hartwell Lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with a shoreline of 962 miles.

Anderson, SC
the electric city
Anderson, SC was named for General Robert Anderson, a Revolutionary War hero who was born in 1741 in August County, Va. He came to South Carolina to help his good friend, Andrew Pickens, in surveying some land that had been given to the English Colony by the Indians. The City was founded in December 1826 and incorporated by an act of Legislature, December 19, 1833. Anderson was the first city in the south to have an unlimited supply of electric power. The first cotton gin in the world to be operated by electricity was in Anderson County in 1897.

The City lies on the southern border of Interstate 85 and is approximately 127 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia and 132 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina. The City encompasses approximately 14 square miles and is located in the geographical center of the county.

The City of Anderson is located in the northwest corner of the state of South Carolina on the Piedmont Plateau. It is the county seat located in the geographical center of the county and principal city in Anderson County. The City is ideally located on the busy Interstate 85 corridor, to which much of its economic growth can be attributed. The I-85 corridor from Atlanta to Charlotte is now known as one of the nation's hottest growth areas. Anderson County, South Carolina lies midway between Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina. This stretch of highway is one of the heaviest traveled highways in the southeast. Business leaders and development officials in Anderson have taken advantage of this asset, and visible progress is the result. Anderson County was ranked 14th out of 50 as on of the "Hottest American cities for business location," (based on a survey of leading site consultants) according to the January 2001 issue of Expansion Management.

Anderson is a major contributor to the success of the upstate. Anderson offers all of the basics upon which to build a thriving economy, including affordable land, a good transportation system, infrastructure, and a large number of recreational amenities. In June 2000, Anderson County was one of only ten communities to be designated an All-America City by the National Civic League. The Anderson community offers the feel of small-town living with the attractions and business opportunities of larger cities only a short drive away.
